Interesting concept . . .

Someone posted this on Facebook and it is obviously relevant to those of us who choose to blog. There is truth to the caption, and begs the question, "Why?" Why do so many feel the need to broadcast their thoughts and experiences, their voices and lives to the world? Are we in search of some sort of validation? Are we looking for the approval of our fellow humans? In times past people penned their  thoughts to family and friends in letters, which more mindful generations saved for posterity. They wrote books to share themselves with the broader world. Today, we have the technology to make our private worlds public instantly. Have we lost the ability to live quiet lives, solitary live save for the small inner circle of our own worlds? Do we even remember what it's like to exist without our cell phones at the ready? I wonder.

  1. For me its a way to let it all out... maybe I could journal instead... sometimes typing is just more fun! :D I also dont think we know what its like to not have our cell phones. When mine dies I think, "if anything happens, I wont be able to call anyone!". Sad to think I wouldnt have most "important" numbers, know the date, or have a flash light for getting around a sleeping baby! Okay, okay, maybe its not THAT bad... there is some truth but its not THAT bad! I wouldnt DIE without my cell phone. I think we are all just comfortable with are amenities. We just got internet again and it felt nice not to be completely connected...

  2. We get accustomed to each new piece of technology and in no time, it's indispensable.

  3. Actually, I blog for myself, no one else. If others have found me and want to read me and comment, that's great. But yes, like Leesh, it's more of a journal for me than anything else. My memory is a sieve; now I can capture thoughts/events. :)
