Lioness Arising by Lisa Bevere

I read Lioness Arising. Or should I say I tried to read it. Sadly for me, it was like taking a bath with my socks on; it just didn't feel right. Which is probably why I have put off writing my review for MONTHS! This is not to lambaste Lisa Bevere. I have met her, spoken with her, read other books she has written, and heard her minister many times. I wanted to like this book. I wanted to rave about it and compel women to read it. But it just wasn't for me. Perhaps it's where I am in life, or perhaps I've seen too much nonsense in churches, but I want to focus on the basics in my Christian walk. Jesus and me. Drawing close to Him and sensing His presence. I believe that the more tightly knit to Him I am, the more natural walking and living a supernatural life will be. I get that stirring people to militance can make them feel as if they are ready to take on the powers of the enemy. But so is knowing you are covered by the precious Blood of the Lamb and hiding oneself in Him. I hope others found more in this book than I did. I still honor the ministry of both John and Lisa Bevere and believe God is at work in and through them.

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.
